Art Lesson 2- Reflection and Lesson Plan – The Visual Element – Lines

Lesson 2 was on the visual elements, and in particular lines. We looked at different artists and their use of lines. I’ve had a look IMG_4317 IMG_4318 IMG_4319 IMG_4320 IMG_4321 IMG_4322 IMG_4323 IMG_4324around my own home to get an idea of how lines are used.

I have designed a lesson plan on lines, but after compiling this, I’ve realised that every picture I’ve taken of a line is one of a straight line. So I need to be careful that this misconception is not transferred over to the pupils – I need to try and get them to think a bit more creatively than me. I need to have another look and perhaps try and identify some other type of lines. I wonder what all my lines are straight?

Art Lesson 1- Reflection and Lesson Plan

Lesson 1 was an introduction to the class and we were told we had to make a sketch book.  This did not have to be a book, but could be any container of some sort, even online. So I decided to make this blog. We looked at a book of different sketch books, but the general consensus was that no-on was really too sure what was to go in this sketch book. The spec of the sketchbook seemed quite loose, which filled me with dread, but I then got quite excited about it, and started taking pictures of things, and looking online for some cool and easy arty things to try in the house. Alas, this was not to be the case.  In lesson 2 ( I will reflect on lesson 2 in another post), the spec had changed and the instruction was now do a lesson plan following every lesson. A lesson plan on how you would teach what was taught in that lesson. So, I now need to design a lesson plan on sketch booking and a lesson plan on the visual element. Confused, yes. I am still not sure what the reflection is on. The class lesson? Surely then that would just be a critique of how the lesson was? Lesson 13 Oct 2014

I’m even more confused about the sketch book now! We now have to design a lesson plan based on every lesson, so I guess I need to do a lesson plan on a sketch book and a lesson plan on lines.
On reflection, I completely missed the point of the sketch book, and thought we had to start our own sketch book filled with interesting bits and bobs. So I had started filling the blog with pictures and ideas. However this seems to be the wrong thing. I feel frustrated that I wasted time, when all I could have been doing is writing up lessons plans; however I am quite enjoying it so will continue with the bits and bobs.
